Vajta

(Fejér County)

The coat-of-arms of the village is a shield erect quarterly azure and gules. In the first field azure a lion or, rampant contourné is borne encouped, raising his paws offensively. The lion refers to the ancient Cumanian settlers. The second field is barry of seven gules and argent, emphasizing that the settlement descends from the Árpád era. In the third field gules an ear of wheat is borne encouped, referring to the agriculture in the village. In the fourth field a triple jet of water comes from a mound vert, as the symbol of the local spa water.

The Village of Vajta

The settlement is situated in the Southern corner of Fejér County, on the South-eastern part of Mezőföld. Road 63 crosses the border between Fejér and Tolna Counties on the boundary of the village. The railway station can be found 2 km west to the centre of the village, on the road connecting Vajta and Pálfa. The records about the settlement are from after 1324. The village got its name from Vajta, the ancestor of Baracska clan. At this time, according to the documents, the settlement still belonged to Simontornya.

Between 1650 and 1945 it was the land of the Zichy family, the church and the castle were built by them. The castle was designed by Mihály Pollack in 1915, the castle is under the protection of monuments, the park is under the environmental protection.

The village has a nursery with a day-time home, and a school. The settlement has a population of 1000 people in 340 households. The village also has a medical service, a community centre and a house of the village as a public institution, where the library can be found. There is no industry in the settlement, therefore the air is clean. As far as the climate is concerned, gentle winters and mild, warm summers are characteristic. There is a spa water spring in the village; a bath and a summer camp were built around it in 1970. Considering the quality of the water, it is close to the spa water of Hévíz, it has been qualified as mineral water. Because of the spa, the tourism has significantly grown recently. Several families deal with hosting guests. In the neighbourhood of the bath 108 holiday allotments have been developed, these are supplied by public utilities, and sold continuously.
