Nádasdladány is situaded in the western part of Fejér County, and it borders on the settlements of Ösi, Berhida, Jenő and Sárkeszi. It is a settlement of varied surface and it has several streets and typical narrow belts of building sites. Nádasdladány was first mentioned in 1266 as Lodan. Later it was called Villa Ladan (1283), Poss(essio) Ladaan (1322), Ladán (1429), Kysladan (1436), Ladány (1720), Sárladány (up to 1859), Nádasd-ladány (from 1859 onward) and Nádasdladány (1898).

The present-day name of the settlement got finalised in 1903 in the National Register of Hungarian Settlements. 'Nádasd', the anterior constituent of the settlement's name comes from the name of the landowning Nádasdy family, while the posterior constituent, the word 'Ladány' is referring to the one-time owners of the village. Following some historical changes, as it is generally known, the members of the Nádasdy family played a significant role in the life of the settlement. After Lipót Nádasdy the settlement got into the possession of his successors, Ferenc and Tamás. From 1873 onward the members of the family were engaged in building the Nádasdy mansion in the village, an event which was enthusiastically covered by the newspaper 'Székesfehérvár'. According to the document, which was laid down together with the foundation-stone the mansion builders were the 31-year-old Ferenc Nádasdy and his wife, Ilona Zichy. Due to changes in public administration in Hungary during its centuries-long history the settlement administratively belonged to various counties. (Veszprém and Fejér Counties). The number of Nádasdladány's inhabitants also varied between 1580-1680 in the years 1920-1945. In the second World War Nádasdladány fell victim to military combats and by contemporary reports as many as 115 local houses got destroyed.
