The Coat-of-Arms of the Village Ikrény

(The County of Győr-Moson-Sopron)

When designing the cout of arms of the village, it was essential to contain such motives which on the one hand belong to the inhabitants and on the other hand are well understandable and recognisable for strangers also.

Another aspect was the simple illustration, so that the cout of arms can be used without significant changes on both black and white stamps, documents and emblems and also on coloured flags, badges and embles.

The form of the shield is simmetrical with paralell sides, on top straight to the sides, and at the bottom it is arched. A horizontal line divides the shield into two.

In the upper part a stylized and simplified picture of the Baroque archway can be seen which can be found between the castle and the granary in the village. The archway does not only have a local significance, but the open gate also simbolizes such motives as hospitability, warmness to strangers, and openness. The golden(yellow) open gate with black outline emerges from a scarlet background.

In the lower part of the shield the two rivers Rába and Rábca serpentine in blue colour which surround the village and its belonging territories. In a heraldic sense this part simbolizes a fess. The golden(yellow) colour refers to the rich soil standing out of water on which three green water plants grow. The water plants can be also understood as field crops, for example wheat or barley. Number three stands for completeness, both in religious and in profane meaning.

Above the shield of the cout of arms the Hungarain Holy Crown is visible in a stylized form in harmony with the whole shield. The horizontal part of the crown is green, while the vertical part is red.

Under the shield of the cout of arms the inscription “IKRÉNY” is underlined with a broadend field. The name “IKRÉNY” is written with Bodoni fonts, vertically lengthend.
