Görcsöny

(Baranya County)

The coat-of-arms of the local autonomy: in shield couped en pointe azure, erect a nest couped with four youngs looking upward with open beaks waiting for food. Above the nest their mother landing, displayed, neck lowered to her bosom, tearing it open with her beak and feeding her youngs with her own blood. The nest, the pelican and the youngs are all or.

The pelican feeding her youngs with her own blood is the symbol of family relatedness and the sacrifice of the head of the family. Everything is or as if it was covered by the rays of the Sun. In the azure symbolising universe the couped figure represents relatedness and the linking of love.

Below the shield couped en pointe in semi circle on dexter an oak branch vert with acorns gules, on sinister a laurel branch with fruits gules.

Above the coat-of-arms the motto GÖRCSÖNY is borne.
