Gömörszőlős

(Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County)

Triangular military shield erect and gules. In chief three entwining ears of corn are borne or, in base a bunch of grapes or is borne encouped and flanked by a ploughshare and a coulter, both argent. Shield is topped by a scroll gules, argent and vert, on which an eagle argent is borne abaisé, turning toward the dexter. Oak branches vert are borne on both sides of the shield as supporters. Below the shield a ribbon is borne encouped with the settlement's name GÖMÖRSZŐLŐS inscribed in it.

The charges of the three ears of corn, the ploughshare and the coulter are all references to the traditional emblems of the village, thus they symbolise the element of continuity in the history of the settlement's local government. The bunch of grapes is a reference to the settlement's self-adopted name, while the charge of the eagle goes back to the coat-of-arms of the former Gömör County, to which in the past the village belonged. The supporters of the settlement's coat-of-arms recall the village's natural environment as well as its beauty and wealth.
